A few days ago, Anthropic, the company behind Claude Code, sent a legal action against OpenCode, an open source coding agent.

They demand removal of any method or mention on how to use Claude subscriptions in OpenCode. Their TOS is clear that 3rd party harness can only be used with their API offering, which can be 3-10x more expensive than their subscription offering.

To me it looks like they want to control the experience end to end because they’re not 100% confident that just having the best model is enough. There’s a chance where they lose money on subscriptions on some users so locking this user make business sense long term.

You can read more about it in OpenCode GitHub repository, issue 18186 (closed now)
