After around 7 days of using Ubuntu Touch in a Poco X3 NFC, unfortunately it broke. I was running, and it fell out of my pocket, scratching the screen and a part of the body.
So I have to stop using it from now on, keeping only my tablet running UT, which I’m writing this post on. Here’s more info on those last days.
Last days
One of the things I do the most with my phone isĀ listen to music. When I installed the Futify Spotify Client, I could not log in to my account. Turns out Spotify restricted some API operations for security, which broke the app. I had to patch the app for it to work, and I’m trying to upstream my changes.
Another thing is that I really need a working call blocker app. For some reason, my number is the target of spam calls all day, so blocking them is essential. On Android, I rely on the Yet Another Call Blocker app. On UT, we have ExPhone, which should work, but not for me. I tried a lot to inspect the codebase, make some changes, and add debug flags to see what the issue with the app was, but then my phone broke. I asked in the UT Telegram group, and people reported that it works, so I’m not sure what the problem is.
Next steps
I’m not sure if I’m going to continue using the broken phone, buy another one, or make the final move and buy a Volla Phone Quintus. I would like to have more testing before spending the money, but buying another Poco X3 seems not ideal.
Furthermore, I also want to finish my WhatsApp QML project so I can have a good WhatsApp experience.
There are some contributions on my other published apps that I want to package and release as well. But all of this after the new year.
